Description 4-Substituted-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid derivatives were synthesized in one pot under mild conditions via the formation of dihydropyran derivatives from pyruvates and aldehydes catalyzed by pyrrolidine-acetic acid, followed by the reaction with ammonium acetate.
